About this cause

Founded in 1987, we help people who are elderly, disabled or unwell and living in parts of Exeter and East Devon to live full and independent lives. The people we help are often living far from family and friends and need help to cope with their own declining health, or that of a loved one. 96% of our 1,300 beneficiairies are aged 65+ and 35% are carers. Our objectives: To improve the quality of life of those in need of care, comfort and support by improving health and wellbeing, reducing isolation, education and providing facilities. Our services: Home Help, Befriending, Friendship Group, Carers Respite, Lunch Club, Day Centre, Community Transport, Social Outings, Library and Charity Shops. Our work is made possible thanks to the commitment of over 160 local volunteers.

How this cause brings people in the community together

It will help bring different people from the community together with as many as 50 local volunteers helping out at the lunches and transporting beneficiaries to and from Lunch Club and local schoolchildren joining to lead sing-a-longs. It will help older people to feel less isolated thanks to regular social gatherings and to live healthier lives thanks to having regular nutritious meals.
