We want to provide counselling support across South Lanarkshire for people affected by MS and need funds to cover costs.
About this cause
We are one of the 250+ local MS Society local groups and we believe we are one of the major strengths of the Society for local people affected by MS. What we do includes: bring together people living with MS locally provide support to be physically active offer emotional support and a sense of community provide access to information influence national and local services Each group is different. As a group we determine what we should offer to the local community. Currently we are launching a counselling service for people affected by MS as at this time the support for people with MS across Lanarkshire is minimal and there are very little in way of one-to-one counselling. We have identified this with our local community as a priority and this is what we would like to secure funds for.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Presently there is no specialist MS Nurse in Lanarkshire and this has caused a lot of upset and worry within the community. We are actively campaigning for this to change but this will take sometime and as a way of offering support the counselling session will help a number of people. It has been shown that stress has a huge impact on the body and with MS this is heightened.
