About this cause
PramaLIFE is a Dorset charity that provides outreach opportunities for vulnerable and isolated elderly people and carers. Our vision is a world where no-one is unfairly disadvantaged or excluded because of age or infirmity and where every person can enjoy life. We enable those who live with vulnerability or isolation to enjoy their old age while remaining independent, to lead fulfilling lives and fully contribute to society. It is a network of locally rooted activities including special-interest and dementia clubs, transport, befriending and carers’ support services and intergenerational programmes. Our services are responsive to local community needs and our beneficiaries’ preferences and ensure that the support we provide helps people “live stronger for longer”.
How this cause brings people in the community together
East Dorset has a disproportionately high number of older people, many of whom are isolated and lonely. A minibus will help those who would otherwise be stuck at home, and the wider community by ensuring their elderly population integrate with the community, thus contributing instead of being a burden on government resources. Many users become volunteers, adding further value all round.
