About this cause

Scouting is a great way for young people to have fun, make friends, get outdoors, express their creativity and experience the wider world. We aim to provide a fun, challenging and adventurous programme of activities for young people aged 6 to 18, from Ardsley, Stairfoot and the surrounding villages. We're one of 16 Scout Groups in Barnsley. We have Beaver, Cub, Scout and Explorer sections, catering to the needs of different age groups. We run 48 weekly meetings for each section each year, as well as running various camps, trips and other weekend activities. We are part of the Scout Association - the largest youth organisation in the world. 400,000 young people enjoy Scouting in the UK.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Ardsley Scout Group has an important role in the local community, delivering after school activities for about 100 young people every week. Scouting gives children more confidence, responsibility and a broader set of friends. It encourages self-sufficiency, and gives them a can-do attitude that opens up access to activities and opportunities that may otherwise have been unavailable to them.
