About this cause

Nash College is a specialist college for adults aged 18-25 with profound disabilities based in Coney Hall and we, the Friends Group of Nash College, are a committee of 12 local volunteers, including 2 members of staff, who work together to: • Raise the profile of the college within the local community • Raise funds to purchase equipment for the students to enhance their daily lives and support their education by organising events within the local community. The aim of the College is to enable its students to achieve their maximum level of independence in their daily lives. Since our inauguration, the Friends Group have raised over £35,000 to provide specialist IT equipment, sensory equipment and IT equipment to improve the wellbeing of the students.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The project will help the local community by promoting an awareness of disabilities in the community and provide support for those people who have people in their families who might need support when at times there are anxious or are overwhelmed/ overloaded by sensory input from noise, sounds and crowds it’s a place where they can retreat to calm before engaging back in the hub of things.
