About this cause

The Voluntary Help Centre runs a community car service allowing people who live in Southwold, Reydon and villages in a 5 mile radius to attend hospital and medical appointments, visit family and friends in hospitals and care homes, to do their shopping, have their hair done or take their pets to the vet. We have a befriending service where volunteers will visit people in their own home to give a little companionship, do their shopping or collect prescriptions. We run a weekly lunch club where up to 45 people join us each week for a home cooked lunch and share a meal with their friends and we run monthly afternoon teas where between 35 and 40 people join together to share a meal and enjoy a 'musical interlude'.

How this cause brings people in the community together

To allow people to have access their hospital and medical appointments, being able to get their shopping done, have their hair done and to visit their family at home, in hospital or care homes. Lunch Club helps to alleviate the loneliness of being at home on your own. For many of those who join us, it is the only time in the week they get out of their own house and meet up with friends.
