We want to replace our play equipment and surfacing and improve the natural landscape of our park.
About this cause
Our organisation is a registered charity located in Balivanich, a rural and remote town in the Western Isles.Balivanich Community Play Park was funded in 2003. For over a decade the play park has provided play opportunities for children and young people. The equipment in the park is now over 10 years old and is showing serious signs of wear and tear. A new committee wants to take a more active role in maintaining and developing the play-park. By replacing the play equipment, we will provide a safe, well maintained and engaging place for the whole community to enjoy. As we are in such a remote location, after school activities are limited. We believe that new play equipment will give children and young people in the community opportunities to improve their overall mental and physical health
How this cause brings people in the community together
The new play equipment will give children and young people in the community opportunities to improve their overall wellbeing and health.Our play park facility currently does not meet needs of children from throughout Benbecula and beyond as the nearest similar facility is over 10 miles away.Locals and visitors come to Balivanich as it is the major administrative and shopping centre of the Uists.
