About this cause
The Friends of Talgarth School support things such as additional licences for learning packages such as Lexia and Numicon which particularly enable less abled children to keep up and achieve the levels expected to achieve by the school. We also fund Coach hire for external trips such as Theatre, Historical places such as Carleon and Iron Bridge Historical Village. On a closer range we pay and help support Coach fares for Swimming and Sports and Athletics meets. Due to the small Town we are located in and the lack of public facilities the School relies heavily on bussing kids to facilities. We also fund special practitioners such as Theatre Companies, Zoo's etc coming in and enriching the children's learning needs which is essential for a rural school where especially low income families.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our School and our Sister School Bronllys will be merging to create a new School Ysgol Y Mynydd Du. As well as essential learning items and aids that are funded by the PTA. We are also trying to fund enough money to buy outside learning equipment for the school we would not have otherwise. Our dream goal would be to fund a School Mini Bus to take children to sports and cultural places.
