About this cause

Girlguiding is a charity which aims to support the development of girls into young ladies who can make a difference in the world. Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers are the best known part of Girlguiding, but that isn't all that it can offer. Peer Education is a way for girls aged 14 to 25 years to become educators and help their peers grow in confidence. Through the scheme, girls are taught how to lead various sessions focusing on a range of important issues. They attend a training weekend, before being able to work with anyone aged 7 and above (whether they are members of Girlguiding or not). Currently, Peer Educators are trained in sessions such as: think resilient (mental health), free being me (body confidence), healthy relationships, youth health and girls learning to lead.

How this cause brings people in the community together

A taster event with up to 50 girls will teach new and develop existing skills, such as team work, resilience and communication, it will also aim to improve their confidence in themselves and their leadership. The training session will train up to 20 girls to be Peer Educators, they will then lead sessions with lots of different groups through out the future.
