About this cause

Sefton Children’s Trust (SCT) aims to provide a 3-year educational and recreational programme for 72 children aged 8-12 years, who are experiencing difficulties within their own families, live in the Sefton area of Merseyside and experience additional strain beyond poverty. The children may be young carers, live in families where there is serious or terminal illness, experienced bereavement or murder of a close family member, been abused or living in a totally chaotic household. The charity aims to: · provide respite for children and families · promote respectful and considerate behaviour · provide an opportunity for young people to build relationships with positive role models · deliver educational and recreational programmes advancing the personal and social development of young people

How this cause brings people in the community together

These children may have experienced anti-social behaviour as the norm, therefore, the long-term effect of the residential has been to break down perceptions, stereotypes and improve relationships, which young people have about people in authority. Some children learned how to make new friends and build trust, skills that will help them, their families and their local communities in the future.
