Fulham Good Neighbours
Social Inclusion
We want to run a digital inclusion project teaching internet to local older and disabled housebound residents.
About this cause
Fulham Good Neighbours support mainly older people, including those with dementia, with a range of services: Good Neighbour Scheme – practical help at home. We do what any good neighbour would: collect medication, escort to appointments, accompany shopping and take care of pets to name just a few of our free services delivered by over 50 volunteers, many of whom are older people. We also do a number of other services, befriending, decorating, gardening, social clubs to help beat isolation and loneliness: - Fulham Lunch Club - Silver Club at the White Horse - Silver Club at the Hollywood Arms - Art Group - Shared Reading Group Connections 4th Generation – is our dedicated project supporting over 85 year olds who have recently been discharged from the Charing Crossing Hospital.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We think that by linking local volunteers (mainly younger people) with local older/disabled people who are predominantly housebound we will create inter-generational links that will strengthen the community as a whole. This of course in addition to connecting digitally excluded people to the Internet and its benefits.
