About this cause

We are a support group, which endeavours to provide practical and emotional support to people who have suffered and are effected by a stroke. We do this by regular meetings to support social social contact and mutual help and support. Our aim is to improve the quality of life for stroke survivors and their families. We do this by giving them a wide variety of enjoyable activities as requested by our members. Promote emotional well being and confidence. If we have enough money we try to take the group and their carers out on day trips 3 times a year. This does cost us money though as we have to hire a disabled coach is around £500.00 depending on where we are gong. These days out are enjoyed by all the members as some of them it is the only time that they leave the city.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We aim to reduce social isolation following a Stroke, promote emotional well-being and confidence and encourage people towards self-help and individual responsibility for their own health. The group can provide a respite for carers and also potential problems can be picked up and dealt with more quickly, meaning fewer hospital re-admissions and health problems.
