About this cause

Fat Macy's Foundation provides five day training bootcamps in catering, hospitality and food hygiene for those living in homeless hostels. We are contracted by homeless hostels, homelessness services and local authorities. Our charitable object is the relief of poverty for those living in temporary accommodation, homeless hostels and housing associations by the provision of practical advice, catering training, emotional wellbeing support and grant funding for housing deposits. The Fat Macy's Foundation provides grants to those who complete the 150 hour Volunteer Trainee work experience placement of up to £1200. It can grant up to £300 for the provision of photographic identification, transport and clothes and shoes for work, as decided by the trustees.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Our project creates a unique framework that breaks the cycle of homelessness and provides everyone in the community with a positive programme with which to engage with the homeless people in their community. The events we run change the perception of homelessness as we challenge the current stigma attached with those experiencing homelessness. Moreover, we get people into work, which benefits all!
