We need new camping equipment to take our children on exciting residential experiences.
About this cause
Run activities for children between ages of 6yr and 18yrs. we provide opportunities for these children to develop independence, citizenship, skills and have FUN. Every week the each section Beavers, Cubs and Scouts meet either at the HQ or elsewhere in the area to complete activities. They earn badges which they display on their uniforms. They also represent our group at the annual Remembrance Day Parade and organise for the area a St George's Day parade. Each year we run a Sleepover at the HQ in Upton and take all the children on a weekend camp.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We are a disadvantaged area with some rural poverty and isolation. We are known for being successful in taking in youngsters in care and the disabled. All are welcome. The activities we offer give a sense of belonging to the local community. Many members of the local community have been offering their assistance to our group with repairs and renovations to our HQ. We want to build on this.
