About this cause

Rainbow House is a charity that helps children, young people and some adults with neurological and genetic conditions, resulting in disability. We support them to live more active and independent lives by providing a specialist service known as Conductive Education (CE) - a unique form of rehabilitation, education and fun! CE is not a therapy or treatment, but a method of teaching practical ways of achieving tasks such as being able to actively participate in daily life – getting changed, weight bearing, climbing the stairs etc. Service-users attend Rainbow House once per week for 2.5 hours and during this time work towards developing skills and capabilities in all areas of learning. We do not provide a miracle cure, but we do give individuals the chance to achieve their potential.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Families with disabled children very often choose to avoid going on family days out because they feel anxious and isolated. Our project aims to positively bring these families together, giving them the confidence to be a part of the local community. It will help them to feel less isolated, more accepted within society, whilst providing lots of enjoyment to the family unit, including siblings.
