About the Project
We feel that because of the area we live in many families are financially excluded from activities such as days out together because the cost is so prohibitive. Many of the local summer holiday clubs are run by businesses with higher costs than our families can not afford, and are also just for the children to access, so our main aim is to bring families together over the holidays.
About the Charity
We run a holiday club on two days a week throughout August. We operate in a recognised area of financial and social deprivation affecting children. We offer craft and games in the hall on one morning a week, and offer subsidised family days on the other. Most of our families are unable to access these days out themselves as the cost is beyond their means, so we use grants and donations from the families to offer them valuable time out together as a family. We ask for 50p per child to cover the refreshments in the hall and a donation of £6 for adults and £4 a child on the days out, with a stipulation that we will always help those who simply can not afford the cost for what ever reason. We emphasise that no one will be excluded for financial reasons, that is what we use the grants are for.
