2nd Shildon Guides
Young People
We would like to offer different activities without families having to pay, including a camp at an activity centre in May.
About this cause
We provide a weekly term time activity session and trips and residential experiences for girls who are aged between 10 and 14 years old and live in the local area. Through our programme of individual badges, group badges and challenges, we support and encourage the girls to develop their skills, learn new skills, develop communication and leadership skills whilst having fun in a safe environment without the pressures of modern life. We try to offer the girls experiences that they may not normally be able to access. Our objectives are to follow the aims of Girlguiding to help the girls develop lifelong skills and to improve their life chances.
How this cause brings people in the community together
As part of the activities the girls will be doing, they will do a direct piece of work to support a community project. In the long term the skills the girls have learned will help them to develop confidence, teamwork and practical skills for everyday life and these skills will support them in the future with education and employment, which will increase skills within the community.
