About this cause

Bereavement Matters provides a service to help and support adults, children, young people and their families, in the St Albans District, from any culture who have experienced bereavement or loss which is impacting on their health, well-being or ability to function in their daily life. Our primary objective is to help those who are in need of support through our counselling, coaching, and listening services led by trained and supervised volunteers and other qualified professionals. Our service is available to anyone living in the St Albans, Harpenden and surrounding areas regardless of race, creed, culture or financial circumstance. Our current services include a Telephone Helpline, Children & Young People's Service, Visiting & Buddy Service, Counselling Service and Telephone Support.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Art is an inclusive way to breakdown social and cultural barriers. It is accessible to all regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, faith, disability, or language. Our project will encourage groups, schools, clubs and art therapy groups to use this opportunity to think together about grief and bereavement as part of the processes of creating pieces of artwork for the exhibition.
