We want to complete the budget which will bring accessible toilets and handwashing facilities to Hertford's oldest building.
About this cause
The Friends of St Leonard’s is a group of volunteers working to keep St. Leonard’s church open and available as a place of peace for the people of our community. We have been entrusted with the care of the oldest building in Hertford, and over the years our fund-raising efforts have purchased chairs for the church, the lighting and sound reinforcement systems to assist the hard of hearing, funded conservation work on the paintings of Moses and Aaron, as well as providing for the survey of the wall paintings, restoration of the funeral hatchments, and most recently, installed a water supply direct to the church.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Introducing accessible toilet and handwashing facilities to the church will enable us to meet people’s needs for comfort and hygiene and allow us to offer practical use of the building to a wider range of people. Increased use of the church will help us generate further income of our own to maintain the building, and make us better equipped to keep Bengeo’s most historic building alive and well.
