Services include: - crisis support, information, advice and assistance - safe refuge facilities for women and children - recovery work with children and families - counselling for survivors of domestic abuse - awareness raising programme in local schools and training for teaching staff - a 24 hour telephone helpline - support for adult male victims of domestic abuse - a rehabilitation programme for perpetrators (run in partnership with another charity) Our organisation helps in excess of 1,000 people each year.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Children living in our refuge need positive experiences; they have often experienced horrific events at home and have had to escape in order to stay safe. Our refuge provides them with somewhere safe to live, but we would like to ensure that children in the refuge feel that they 'belong' somewhere and are wanted; this is key to improving their wellbeing, confidence and self-esteem.
