Auchterless Residents Association
Social Inclusion
We want to create a Christmas focal point in the village with a lit-up Christmas tree and street light mounted Christmas lights.
About this cause
Auchterless Residents Association supports our local community (Auchterless). We came together to enable delivery of the priorities/projects identified by the community through a community action planning process. Projects include the setting up of a monthly community cuppa, improving road safety in the village, possibly taking on the running of the village hall and supporting the Community Council to progress a play park and car park. The Association is also building and enhancing community cohesion by organising community events such as a festive evening, Easter trail, community planting day. Future events include a summer picnic and sports day. The Association together with the Community Council now publishes a regular community newsletter to keep residents up to date on activity.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The project will bring the local community together at a special time of year and help boost pride in the village. Over 60 people attending our first festive event in 2016 - a small tree with battery powered lights! There was positive feedback on the night and on social media. There was a real 'buzz' on the night and the church hall where we served refreshments was filled with chat and laughter.
