We want to develop sharing in our community through a library of things where people can borrow rather than buy a range of household items.
About this cause
We develop and implement social, economic and environmental solutions to issues identified by and with our community. We give a voice and value to people of all ages, building relationships within and between generations. We increase choices within our community, meeting needs locally. To meet these aims we operate from a former mill site in our community. Here we organised seasonal social celebrations bringing people of all ages together, activities and programmes which engage toddlers, children, young adults and the wider community in environmental activities which connect us with each other and the natural world. We have a significant food project aimed at all ages dealing with growing, cooking and food waste. We are volunteer managed and sharing is a big part of what we do.
How this cause brings people in the community together
This will mean people do not have to purchase expensive and seldom used goods. It is a low cost alternative which will build community capacity through our skillshares. As we bring people together we expect conversations to begin around the whole concept of sharing and the benefits it may bring. We see this as intergenerational and a very cooperative approach to community development.
