About this cause

Pure Insight works with vulnerable young people (leaving children's homes & foster care) age 16-25. In David Cameron's words Autumn 2015 we have a care system that “shames our country” “We are setting children in care up for a life on the dole, the streets and an early grave” Nationally care leavers report feeling overwhelmingly lonely and isolated Pure Insight believes that young people leaving care deserve to be matched to highly trained consistent role models who will support them to navigate through challenges in addition to being around to celebrate good times. We recruit, train & support local volunteers to work with a young person for a minimum of 2 years with many becoming long term friends. Our head office and most of our projects are in Stockport and we also work in Cheshire East

How this cause brings people in the community together

Care leavers need access to supportive adults who offer timely advice & guidance to overcome the range of practical & emotional challenges faced by a young adult living without support. Mentors support with the small things that if left unresolved can escalate into serious issues such as homelessness, mental health crisis, offending, substance/alcohol addiction, breakdown of education/employment
