We want to deliver creative and imaginative workshops for people living with dementia in care homes in and around Herne Bay.
About this cause
Bright Shadow's mission is to enable people living with dementia and those who love and care for them to live well and to thrive. We use creativity to provide brighter quality dementia care which is mood-boosting, invigorating and relationship enhancing. We provide 'Zest' activity workshops, activity training and activity resources to enable people with dementia and those that care for them express themselves, have fun and celebrate the present moment. Our 'Zest' workshops currently run in care homes, day centres and as fortnightly community groups. In all of our work we celebrate the here and now, ensuring that people with dementia enjoy a bright today and a bright tomorrow.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Age UK's Loneliness In Later Life report found that people living in residential care are more likely to feel lonely than those who live in the community, our Zest workshops encourage self-expression and sense of community to help combat feelings of isolation. With 1 in 3 people in the UK knowing someone with dementia, increasing the wellbeing of our older generation can have a much wider impact.
