About this cause

We lease the old church building in the centre of Dawlish. We run a community café, free mental health courses, homeless help, food parcels, lunch club, support groups, toddler group, opportunities for those with a learning disability, art and craft groups, affordable family activities. We part fund ourselves by hiring out our rooms to slimming clubs, hobby clubs etc. We have just completed an expensive project of building a permanent ramp for safer disabled access as we previously had a precarious temporary ramp only. We need funding to change the lights in the centre which currently cause problems for those with neurological issues. They are also costing a lot to run and are not suitable for evening events which we and other charities in the town want to run. We are an ongoing project.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The venue would be much improved for concerts and evening events for the public and would also prove safer and more comfortable for those who struggle with sight, learning disabilities (where poor lighting affects ability to function) and those who make and sell crafts in the centre.
