Johnstown Guides and Draenog Rangers

After 36 years of camping our equipment is worn out and needs replacing to ensure the guides and rangers can camp safely.
About this cause
We are a Guide unit and a Ranger unit with members from a number of villages centred around Johnstown. We have girls aged between 10 - 26. Currently we have members with physical disabilities and learning difficulties. We provide a safe space for the girls to take part in fun, challenging activities that develop their self confidence and skills, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society. Last year we took the group to Our Chalet, the Guide World Centre in Switzerland and this year visited Pax Lodge in London. We regularly take girls on residential events and Guide camps, we also work with other organisations in our local community.
How this cause brings people in the community together
With better equipment we can take more girls camping and provide adventurous, fun events. At camp girls learn to be how to look after themselves and how to work as part of a team. Confident girls with good life and social skills make a positive contribution to their local community.
