About this cause

AIMS 1. To renovate and restore four derelict cottages (circa 1796) into sustainable use as a heritage, educational and arts centre for the use of the local community, schools and general public. 2. To provide a learning centre for use by locals, historians and artists to pass on relevant skills, knowledge and memories via interviews, lectures and visual presentations. 3. To set up an allotment on existing kitchen garden land, adjacent to the cottages, for local schools to grow their own produce. To provide opportunities for them to learn about the history of allotments and food production since the 16th century . The Centre is now open, we have the allotments and garden to complete and help towards this will be invaluable, volunteers from the Local Community to the fore!!!

How this cause brings people in the community together

This space will welcome all from the local community to interact with each other either as a hands on volunteer or just to gain friendship. The overall desire will be to incorporate all members of the Community in a joint venture run by the community for the community. We have carried out one to one surveys as to the needs of the Community and this was one of the main items that came out of it.
