About this cause

Rugeley & District Community First Responders are a team of volunteers who are trained by West Midlands Ambulance Service to a nationally recognised level to provide lifesaving treatment and initial care to people in their local community. Although supported by West Midlands Ambulance Service, we rely solely on volunteers and donations to operate. We also provide early vital interventions and treatment to patients suffering life threatening problems ensuring the best chance of recovery. Being available to attend these emergencies not only provides support to the local community as a whole but also to the patient with treatment. It ensures both patients and relatives feel reassured whilst an ambulance is on its way.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Upgrading the patient monitor will allow us to obtain more accurate patient data to treat correctly and effectively. We are allowed to administer nebulisers to patients but our guidelines state we must monitor the heart which this device will allow, in turn we are delivering high care and treatment to our community. The device will also be an AED to save lives and compatible with NHS
