Help us make sure every child has a Merry Christmas. We particularly need money to source special needs and teen gifts.
About this cause
We support disadvantaged children and children's organisations within the broadcast area of the radio station (Scottish Borders/North Northumberland). These children live in poverty, or with disability, illness or trauma. A volunteer board of trustees aims to process 4 rounds of grant funding a year. This year so far we have received over £53,000's worth of appeals and provided for example, trips, clothing, beds and food, disability equipment, safe spaces, a mental health programme in high schools, workshops for fostered children, behavioural courses for excluded children. The charity is hosted by the radio station who meet many of the costs , and we fundraise on air through sponsored campaigns which provide valuable PR for companies in the community who want to get involved.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Awareness of the campaign is huge, it grows every year. Schools/individuals love choosing a gift for a child. Local retailers benefit from the extra upsell. Local businesses love getting involved in our fundraisers, and benefit from the valuable PR produced by engaging with the radio station. Here is feedback from a social worker delivering gifts "Its so good to see tears of joy for once."
