Fife Cat Shelter
Animal Welfare
We want to provide essential veterinary treatment for all the cats/kittens we take into our care at the shelter.
About this cause
We rescue and rehome cats and kittens, abandoned animals, owners' unwanted animals and stray animals. Our first priority is veterinary treatment and neutering all the animals we take into our Shelter. We offer an "amnesty" to people on a low income to help them have their cats neutered. We ask these people to pay £25 towards the cost of neutering their cats and we pay the balance. Because we are contacted continually and being asked to take in cats/ kittens, we pay two private catteries to board our "overspill" of cats/ kittens.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We help the local community by providing an affordable neutering programme for cats. There are simply too many cats for too few responsible owners. By neutering the cats, this helps stop disease spreading e.g. feline aids, FIV, which can be spread by un neutered males fighting. We also help in specific circumstances when an owner's cat needs an expensive operation e.g. leg amputation.
