We want install new heating and hot water in Cuckfield Alms Houses to ensure our older residents are comfortable and well supported.
About this cause
The Cuckfield Cottage Homes Trust is a registered charity which owns and operates Alms Houses located in the centre of Cuckfield (one minutes walk from Cuckfield Co-op store). Six self contained one bedroom flats offer independent living for residents over 60 and in need, hardship or distress, with preference being given to Cuckfield residents. These homes are over 100 years old and in need of regular maintenance & improvement to ensure the comfort of the elderly residents. Almost all of the maintenance charge collected from residents is spent on maintaining and improving the properties and no paid staff are employed by the trust. Recent maintenance has included major roof repairs and replacement of external doors. All six flats are occupied and there is a waiting list.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Cuckfield is located in the south east of England, an area where housing is very expensive, one of the most expensive areas in the country. Cuckfield Cottage Homes Trust provides affordable accommodation for older people who are local to Cuckfield. This helps Cuckfield to be a caring place which provides support to local people within the community.
