We want to buy a reclining chair to give comfort and support to people being nursed in our hospice at the end of their lives.
About this cause
We provide life-changing hospice care to people affected by terminal and life-limiting illness living in and around Brighton & Hove. We offer symptom control, pain relief, respite care and terminal care to our patients and we support their families through the terminal illness and into bereavement. We operate an InPatient unit, hospice at home service, day services, community services and bereavement and counselling services. All services are provided free of charge by our doctors, nurses and other health professionals and over 600 volunteers. We help over 600 patients every year. Most patients are aged between 50 and 89 years with a diagnosis of advanced cancer. Other conditions include Motor Neurone Disease, Huntingdon’s Disease, liver and heart disease.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our project will help to ensure that we have the best equipment and furniture available for anyone in our local community who needs free hospice care. All our patients live locally as do our nurses and volunteers. Patients families too will benefit from knowing that their loved ones are being cared for in comfort and can benefit from use of this specialist chair.
