About the Project
This is a busy pool 76.6% of our users are either under 16 or over sixty. The nearest municipal pool is 11 miles away; there are private pools nearer but they are much dearer. Swimming is a very beneficial sport for all; being a largely coastal area, it is vital children learn to swim as soon as possible; we have a waiting list for lessons so we need to increase all our provision for customers
About the Charity
Ex-Local Authority pool, a CIO since 1.11.14. Area Narberth town, the community in a 10 mile radius, plus tourists, teaching 6 schools; poor public transport so vital for all. Ages from newborn to 90+ use the pool in a wide range of activities, swimming lessons, free swims for under 16 and 60+. We raised £200K from community shares for Renewable Energy installations, now we need to increase the use of the pool, by making better provision for customers and expanding our teaching and training program, to ensure the pool stays open and viable as a community enterprise. We obtained a grant from WEFO to help us extend and reconfigure the building and we now need to buy equipment and fit out the disabled changing facilities, create a café area and provide a training/social area with free Wi-Fi.
