About this cause

We are a small charity that aims to support elderly, vulnerable and isolated people in the rural communities of South Brent, Rattery, Diptford, Avonwick and North Huish. Our aim is to try and support our clients to remain living within their own community, living as full, active and independent life. We offer advice, support, social activities and events. We have a dedicated team of volunteers who provide the following services:- befriending, transport to health appointments, shopping, prescription collection, light gardening and DIY, IT help, form filling, dog walking and carers support/respite. We hold regular coffee mornings and lunch clubs and offer transport to them. We are the first point of contact for many. This is all coordinated in the office by 3 part time staff.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Our project will aim to raise awareness of dementia. We will provide a friendly and supportive service to try and alleviate some of the stress that people suffer from when they face huge challenges in their lives. We engage with people who are elderly, isolated or vulnerable to build relationships where we can establish ourselves as trusted and reliable source of information and assistance.
