Keighley and Airedale Cancer Support
Health
Funds will allow us to provide Comfort Boxes to those starting chemotherapy at Airedale Hospital.
About this cause
We are a local support centre based in the middle of Keighley, providing emotional and practical support for people living with cancer and their carers or families. We've grown from being a handful of people who met round a kitchen table to support each other, to a 2 day a week support centre. Our aim is to improve the quality of life for people affected by cancer. We do this by providing holistic therapies aimed at reducing stress and anxiety, throughout their cancer journey. We put no limit on recovery time, as we appreciate that this is different for every individual. Our Thursday drop in group is particularly popular.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Being diagnosed with cancer can be an isolating place, our comfort boxes contain items which have been well thought out and will alleviate some of the side effects of chemotherapy, hopefully helping the patient to feel less alone! They also contain leaflets and information regarding various services, that people can access, to help them along this journey.
