We want to cover the ongoing salary costs of running of the Foodbank.
About this cause
King's Church Darlington's objective is to provide relief to people in need, hardship/distress due to age, physical/mental conditions, social isolation or difficult economic circumstances. We run the King's Centre, which is in one of the most deprived wards in the area, and is open to all in our local community. We welcome all people of all ages, ethnicities and faiths, with a range of needs and resources. Facilities they can access are a cafe, a Foodbank, a furniture reuse scheme and sports hall. The cafe provides meals/drinks for the local community. The Foodbank provide emergency food to individuals and families in hardship or crisis need and additional help with accessing organisations which provide additional support. The facilities provide vital support to all with a range of needs
How this cause brings people in the community together
The Foodbank has proven to be a lifeline to many people and their families over the past five years. As well as meeting the needs of hunger and poverty we reach out to anyone who is disadvantaged socially for numerous reasons. We impact the general well-being of the person/family unit, contributing to improved school attendance and self worth through the support that we give.
