About this cause
Weatherfield Academy Special School provides full time education for pupils with complex learning needs. Many pupils have additional needs such as ADHD, Autism or medical problems. The age range of pupils is 7 years to 18 with the vast majority of pupils coming from a catchment area of South Central Bedfordshire. Education is provided to help the young person to develop into 'The Best Person You Can Be' which is the school motto. All students have come from mainstream schools where they have been unable to engage with the learning. The school site has a large working farm and gardens through which many of the life long learning skills are developed.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The community are already supportive of our initial work and groups from other schools and the town council use the resources that are already in place. By further work to develop facilities this will be a long term project to enhance working skills and education in the community.
