We want to provide the marvellous gift of horse riding and the wonderful outdoors to children with a wide range of disabilities.
About this cause
We help children & adults with a wide range of disabilities from Ludlow & the surrounding area, to ride horses/ponies or carriage drive outdoors, improving body strength, balance, mobility, co-ordination, confidence, introspection & self esteem. The activities help to develop empathy, self-control, communication, numerical & reading skills and in doing so participants learn to confront and overcome their anxieties. It introduces many to the wildlife environment of the forest normally denied to them, because of physical or social restrictions. We aim to combine education, therapy and fun to improve physical & mental health, develop essential skills and in doing so make significant differences to their lives & futures and consequently benefit family, friends, carers and the wider community.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Improving the health and mental wellbeing of our participants makes their own lives and their futures better and increases the prospect that they will be able to contribute to the local community. All those who care for them, in whatever capacity, benefit consequentially from their improved well-being, as do our volunteers who help with the rides. Thus, the entire local community is helped.
