About this cause

The PTA at Drighlington Primary is made up volunteer parents, grandparents and carers who work with the school to organise social and fund-raising events. All activities and funds raised are aimed at improving children’s enjoyment at school and impacting positively on the relationships between parents, children and staff. We have an annual fundraising target of £5,000, this has been exceeded in both 2014/15 and 2015/16 to over £7,000. In recent years funds raised have purchased several iPads for school and helped to fund improvements to the back playground. Funds raised in 2016/17 will go towards further playground improvements.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The play area will encourage the children to interact through play which will have a positive effect on speech and language. Their social skills will also benefit, with eye contact, turn-taking and listening skills. By letting the children play, they gain confidence in communicating and feel that they are in control, and are relaxed in the communication environment.
