About this cause

Plymouth Raiders Development are an amateur basketball club with charity status who provide access to basketball for all ages & abilities. Last season, it cost the club £21,028 in court fees alone, on top of that there are significant costs for minibus hire, fuel and officials. The result was the club had to increase match and training fees as we have struggled to obtain sponsors in the current financial climate. If chosen, we would heavily subsidise training & match fees to reduce the burden on parents. Reducing costs would also make the club and the sport far more accessible to low income families. Our aim is to grow the number of members and volunteers by reducing costs & offer free development opportunities/qualifications to our members and starting a walking & special needs clinic.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Our outgoings are so high, we lose players due to respective high fees to play, especially disadvantaged children or those from a low income family. We want to be able to bring more of these children in, offer them a place to build skills on and off the court and make this a really successful sports club. We also want to build our remit to include walking & special needs basketball clinics
