We need a PAT Testing Kit and training for volunteers so we can test all of the donated electrical items given to us by the public.
About this cause
(CFA) Community Furniture Aid is a registered charity that assists people from all backgrounds who have experienced homelessness & poverty for whatever reason, by offering furniture & household item packs that include all of the basics to set up a comfortable home at a nominal cost. A dedicated team of unpaid volunteers who work tirelessly to help those most in need. We rely on public donations of clean reusable items. We can offer a fresh Food parcel via Fareshare Cymru partner Scheme and in exceptional cases Foodbank Vouchers. Over 30 agencies & charities sign-post to our service that is being used on an increasing basis. We have furnished 275 homes & 50+ part packs. We have saved 180 tonnes from going to landfill. We offer practical assistance to people when they need it most.
How this cause brings people in the community together
At present we have been restricted in the items that can donate to us. As we have been unable to PAT test and check they are safe. Once we have testers & working PAT testing Kits we will be able to accept many more electrical items providing a wider range of items to those we assist as they move on from homelessness. The community will be confident knowing these items are safe to use.
