We want to improve the health, well-being and overall quality of life of older people residing in the local community.
About this cause
The central aim of Lambhill Stables is to offer occupational, educational, training and employment opportunities for people from local disadvantaged communities. We wish to provide opportunities for people who are faced with the prospect of a lifetime of poverty, isolation and social exclusion. The intention is to create a virtuous cycle of renewal to empower communities to develop local solutions to local problems. The target groups include: unemployed people, lone parents, minority groups, older people, residents who want to get active, learn new skills, feel less isolated, and referrals from health and social work agencies. We believe that engaging in socially interactive positive and healthy activities is essential to have good mental and physical health and thereby, quality of life.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The local community will gain a sense pride and ownership. The charity offers a wide range of social, recreational, and educational activities through its community facility, community garden and allotments, all of which have been created through developing and improving derelict buildings and land, and is widely recognised as the focal point community life for many people living in Lambhill.
