About this cause

We are a Volunteer Centre supporting local voluntary and community groups. We actively promote volunteering for all, and run supported volunteer projects that enable individuals to use their skills to the best advantage of themselves and the local community. We work with a range of partners from the Voluntary & Community, Statutory, and Business sectors, in order to maximise the limited resources available to provide our direct services (projects) which meet the needs of the most disadvantaged people in our community, using our volunteer teams. Our aims are to reduce the social isolation of elderly and disabled people, and to increase health and mental well-being in our community. Our Happy @ Home project provides volunteer visitors and social activities for isolated elderly residents.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We promote stronger communities by bringing together local elderly residents and local people who want to volunteer, thus giving people who would not usually meet the opportunity to develop new relationships and feel part of a community. We also recruit students from local schools & colleges to run our social events eg afternoon teas & sing- longs, creating successful inter-generational events.
