About this cause

We're building an amazing teaching kitchen at Rhyl Primary School - a hub for inspirational food education for the local community. But we need funds to pay for a decent oven, 6-ring hob and various other bits of catering equipment. The building itself has cost around £200,000, which we raised over the last two years, but we have no budget for the equipment. The Rhyl Kitchen Classroom is for the benefit of everyone, young and old – our pupils, parents and the wider community. Our mission is to provide: • High quality food education to all our pupils and parents. • A beacon of good practice in food education, sharing the kitchen as a training venue for other educators. • An opportunity for local community groups to use this fantastic resource outside of school hours.

How this cause brings people in the community together

It will provide a hub for food education, nutrition and cookery sessions for our local community. Our school is in the Haverstock Ward of Camden, where diet-related disease is one of the biggest causes of illness and premature death. Our 440 pupils will use the classroom multiple times in the course of the year. The building will also be open to partner schools and community organisations.
