We would like extra funds to provide extra educational classes/provisions/activities and outings.
About this cause
Our organisation provides temporary accommodation for homeless families within our 20 Flats. We provide shelter for those unfortunate enough to find themselves in this position through difficulties such as Domestic Violence, Loss of homes/private rentals, Intimidation or any other matter. The families can be with us any length of time with the average being 6 months right up until a recently left family who where with us for 3 years. Our centre staff provide almost 30 "Key-Work" packages with the intention of preparing them for reintegration into the local community better prepared than previously. We also provide the families with outings to the local cinema's, W5's, Zoo's, Summer Scheme's, Disney on Ice extravaganza's etc to provide the families with entertainment and enjoyment.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We believe that education is a key component in breaking the "Cycle of homelessness" that unfortunately lots of our families encounter with some of the families being 2nd and 3rd generations of the same families with stays in homeless shelters as "the norm". We also want the children in these families to not lose out when it comes to enjoying the same activities as outside families enjoy.
