Our main youth club room which is used by so many groups for the last 15 years is in need of a revamp.
About this cause
Llandovery Youth And Community Centre is a youth and community centre situated right in the heart of the town in the Market Square in Llandovery. It is the venue for about 30 groups who use the premises on a regular or weekly basis including writing classes, Post 16 youth outreach services, mental health groups, computer classes, a bike repair/carpentry workshop, job clubs, art therapy, University of the Third Age Latin and Greek classes, several art groups, a craft circle, a NAAFI morning organised by LINKS, poetry groups. The Llandovery Youth And Community Centre itself runs an after school club, youth club, intergenerational garden, a drop in advice centre.
How this cause brings people in the community together
This large room is used not only for young people but other groups who use the centre and needs to be made more accessible and easy to clean to suit a number of different activities. It would provide an opportunity for our volunteersyoung people to help with the work. Community involvement always brings a feeling of wellbeing and helps the local community put their "stamp" on the building.
