We want to raise funds to support older people with repairs and emergency heaters in the winter so they can be safe and warm in their homes.
About this cause
Our vision is that all older people are able to live in safe, secure, warm and comfortable homes which suits them and their lives and maximises their independence. Our mission is to support older people to repair, adapt and maintain their homes. Our service is a home visiting service. We provide experienced caseworkers and technical officers to give free advice and support with home repairs, adaptations and maintenance. We also help with energy efficiency, heating, falls prevention, health and wellbeing and fire safety. Our experience has shown us that in order to help the most vulnerable you need to visit them at home and work with them over a number of weeks and months to ensure you can help with the range of issues.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We feel that older people are vital in their own communities. They often provide valuable informal care for relatives and neighbours, they shop locally and volunteer locally and are a vital part of the community they live in. By keeping them safe and warm and healthy at home they are able to continue to live in and be active parts of the community they have often lived in for years.
