About this cause

Whalley Range Community Forum was established in 1995 and registered as a charity in 2016. We are an umbrella group, bringing local services and community together to address priorities. WRCF coordinates Age-friendly Whalley Range & Chorlton , engaging directly with older people to help empower them to do more, influence and have a stronger voice in their community. Working with residents we source funding to address priorities, support new/emerging groups to set up, access grants and engage volunteers; we are a Third Party Hate Crime Reporting Centre and Food Bank Referral Centre. We co-run a volunteer-led community festival, run a website/newsletter and bi-monthly meetings for residents to meet service providers e.g. Councillors, police. planning to raise issues that affect them.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We identify residents priorities at our events/consultations - classes and activities we provide will reflect these needs. Pilot projects provide feedback to gauge needs not being met locally. Isolation is always an issue: this happens for many reasons including language barriers, low confidence and older residents losing touch with people in their neighbourhood. We aim to address these issues.
