We need funding to train more peer-to-peer supporters. This will help us to continue and increase the support and information we offer.
About this cause
Treasure Chest Breastfeeding Group aims to promote, support and encourage breastfeeding in the York area. We train volunteers (that have breastfed for at least 6 months) to offer peer to peer support to other mothers. The peer to peer volunteers run week day drop in sessions, antenatal breastfeeding workshops, social media support and visit new parents in hospital. We help families achieve their breastfeeding goals. We help offer mums information and support.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Although we only deal with a mum at a time, we offer mums a support network. We help them through, what for some can be, a difficult time. We offer mums a safe place not be judged and simply to receive information and support so they can make their own informed decisions.
