About this cause

The main aim of Kirton Scout Group is to help young people from ages 6 to 14 to development into citizens who will take a keen interest in their environment, be willing to help others and serve the local community. We would like to extend our age group by adding an Explorer section which will go up to age 18 (which will be the focus of any funds received). We are one of the few organisations in Kirton that welcomes all, including children with special needs and those who have just settled in the town. We work closely with other Kirton organisations, attending all civic events, involved in litter picking and planting flower beds. The personal development of each member is a key focus, with strong emphasis on activities in the outdoors - especially for the older age groups.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Youngsters gain confidence by taking part in camping adventures, both in the locality and beyond. The community benefits as it sees the development of well rounded and adjusted youngsters. Some of our leaders are young adults who find Scouting helps develop them too, enhancing their personal skills and employment potential. Scouts helps provide the glue that binds a community together.
